Long time member Carl Schultz has left us . . .

Post by Len Sawisch »

It is with a sad and heavy heart that I bring you the news of Carl
Schultz departing for his final fishing destination.

Carl passed Sunday afternoon after a long struggle with a variety
of health issues. He is survived by Sherry, his wife and cherished life
partner. To her and their extended families we send our prayers and
support as they mourn his loss.

May we each take a moment to reflect on how Carl touched our lives, and
added color and nuance to our times together, however brief or extended
our contacts may have been.

Carl was a good friend, a mentor, and a colleague. We traveled together to many a show and convention. When he traveled alone he was constantly asked "where's your little buddy?" I was honored to play that role - I will miss him.

Respect can be paid this Saturday at:

Len, That is sad news indeed. I remember meeting him a couple of times and thought he was one heck of a nice guy.

One of my fond ORCA memories is fishing with Len and Carl at Lake Raystown, PA at the first ORCA Convention. Carl brought his Bassmaster Classic Ranger Boat all the way from Michigan to fish our first fishing contest. It was a fun morning that is etched in my ORCA album. Keep your line in the water, Carl.

Len, I'm sorry for your loss of a longtime friend and ORCA's loss of a really nice & knowledgeable guy. The reel Carl sold me at my first club meeting in E. Lansing has increased in intrinsic value.

I've been off the board for a while, tied up with work and family come in for Thanksgiving. i was very sorry to read your post, Len. I remember Carl from Dowagiac and the ORCA show. He was a really nice guy, sort of a gentle soul. When former Heddon employees were coming in with boxes of reel parts and bags of beater Heddon lures to be auctioned, Carl watched with some quiet amusement and was giving a bit of a running commentary with each auction. I had a table near his and he was an interesting neighbor to have. A nice guy, very genuine. You have my sympathy and Carl has my appreciation for being a good man, a gentleman.
