Seeing Richard's sneak peek at the back cover of the March Reel News, I spotted a picture of reels made by Lawson in Montreal. Coincidentally, today at a tackle show in Trenton, Ontario, I was able to acquire a tough combo of a Lawson trade reel marked Major Rod. That reel was mentioned in the draft of the Lawson article but I didn't have one of my own at the time the pictures were taken for the article in The Reel News. So, here is a picture of the Major Rod Fly Reel that looks identical to one version of the Lawson Laurentian reel and another Lawson trade reel marked Leighton.
I had a good show today and hopefully it will increase the number of tackle collectors interested in old reels. Some of my antique reels made people go "Wow, I've never seen anything like that before". I love it when that happens!
