Oil Port on the handle
I finally decided to focus my collecting on old Pflueger. I recently got my first Oceanic and noticed the oil port on the handle. This is curious to me because this is not a feature seen on many models. I'm just curious as to how functional that port actually is. It's only oiling the handle. Seems like a fancy feature to oil the handle. Sorry for the odd musing...have not had my coffee yet.
My screen name is Michael Scott. It's not my real name. Michael is the central character in the show in The Office. His moronic questions and ignorance is how I liken my approach to fishing reels. I have become Michael Scott. That's what she said!
Re: Oil Port on the handle
Is this the port you're talking about? Enterprise patented it in 1929, after applying in 1923. Considering the problems folks had with some earlier Pflueger grasps swelling and shrinking and cracking, oil ports probably seemed a good idea at the time.
