I've ran across several different rods and reels with the name Saranac either labeled on
the rod or impressed on one of the side plates of the reels. Somewhere I read that Horrocks Ibbotson
used that name to identify some of its tackle. Is this true, or am I off base again?

Re: Saranac
Tom,
The word "Saranac" was trademarked by the Clark-Horrocks Company, Utica NY on April 6, 1909, TM 73256. The Trademark Certificate was signed by James H. Horrocks, and the trademark covered a wide range of fishing tackle, including fishing stringers and spears. The trademark was re-newed April 6, 1929 by the Horrock-Ibbotson Company.
Also trademarked at about the same time by Clark-Horrocks Co. were Sportsman's Delight, Defiance & Mohawk.
