Alcedo Micron

Post by Paul M »

I found this Alcedo Micron in an antique mall today. Bail spring missing or broken but I see the schematic from another post so hopefully it it be easy to restore. Otherwise a little cleaning and this should be a great reel. It is probably Gen 2 or 3.

I have decided to fix and keep it. Thanks for the inquiries.

If the bail spring is deformed and the coils do not lie directly on top of each other it is very difficult (maybe impossible) to reassemble the reel. I don't remember the wire size off hand, but a new spring can be made from stainless malin leader.

Thanks to Midway Tommy D for directions on how to make a replacement bail spring and also thanks to Big Hoss for helping me figure a way to extract a tiny screw that broke unexpectedly while fitting the new spring. I am now on the hunt for a replacement Bail Cam Retaining Screw to match the original threaded hole.
