I have added Slote to the makers page to make sure we don't lose track of it. If pics are submitted for this purpose they can be added, too.

Site editors and admins are listed at the bottom of the FRR Homepage. At the moment Al is spearheading improvements to the "States" page. Rick and Al have recently made numerous improvements to FRR and they should be thanked for all their efforts.

I have been recently granted editorial access so I can help out. I have been making some typographical edits and content additions over the past week or so but my goal is to learn about the platform and get a feel for the variety of data structures used on the various pages. That will help the incoming ORCA Board develop plans for the future of this project. More volunteers and content would be welcome!

Mark, I added your info and images to the Makers page. Hope I didn't step on anyone's toes. I won't ask for forgiveness later
If anyone has more info for Ulrich and the UCO reel, drag it on out and we'll add it.

Al - I gave you the City for Slote [Brooklyn] & the years he was in the business of reel making [1871 - 1935] but I don't see this on the list. I will be glad to do a write up with pictures on William Slote, just let me know who handles that.
Thanks - Bill

Actually that company did exist but it is a long story. Please read the extensive article on Perrine in TRN May 2014, pp 13-19.

Are modern makers included ?

If so, Bob Baird can be added to Salt Lake City, Utah.

Clarifications under Michigan...

I believe the Frazier Co in Frazier, MI should be Longfellow Products Inc. Fraser, MI. AFAIK there is no city named Frazier in MI. Casting reels in the '50s

Edit: I stand corrected. Longfellow Products is a second reel maker in Fraser, MI. Fraser Reel & Manufacturing Co appears to be the one intended in the listing. I was unaware of it.
I also should have said 'There is no city SPELLED Frazier in MI.'

Hurd Mfg should be Hurd Lock & Manufacturing Co. Detroit, MI Also of Almont, MI, and Adrian, MI. during WWII.

AFAIK the Rengo Reel Co. "reel" was a dispenser for leader/tippet with a built-in line cutter, not an actual fishing reel.

Additions...

Great Lakes Products Detroit, MI Also of Marysville, MI, Lexington, MI, and Windsor, ONT. Great Lakes Products also made the Whirlaway rod/ reel hybrid in the '50s.

Recreational Products Detroit, MI Airflo Precision Built casting reels

Ranger Inc. Rockford, MI Post WWII casting reels 1947-49

It is Fraser Reel & Specialty Company of Fraser, Michigan or Fraser Reel & Specialty Mfg. Co. (two different names on two different boxes) according to the box and box insert. Keepin' It Fun! Colby

Fraser Tak-L-Kast Marked Fraser, Mi. Not disputing anything because I don't know enough to have an opinion. And besides that, after cataract surgery, I can't SEE!
