OK........ Here's one from the archives.
I bet no one can name all the members of the old California Kovalovsky Mafia circa 1989:
Hint: Phil "The Sasquatch" Beguhl was not present for this meeting.

The (old) California Kovalovsky Cartel
- Rick Edmisten
- Larry Lauve
- John Dickens
- Wayne Allen
I have not heard from Wayne in many years. He stopped collecting so he could devote more time to fishing. Wayne could really dig up some nice reels, I bought some of my nicer Kovalovsky reels from him and we did a good bit of trading, he was a really great guy and I enjoyed our conversations.
Has anyone heard anything from John in the past 15 years?
Larry has gotten involved in reel collecting again and it is sure good to have him back, he is a great guy and a true gentleman who appreciates the history as much as the reels themselves.
Good old L.A. city slicker Rick ....... he almost slid off the cliff behind his house in Studio City but is now playing his banjo somewhere out in New Mexico for his elk herd. It is always good to see him when he shows up at the Nationals with Phil Beguhl. Phil and Rick are great fun to hang out with.

Re: California Kovalovsky Mafia
Wayne Allen came by the Cardiff show for a visit last February to see the Old Guard. John Dickens used to show at Rick's Hollywood show an age ago, but have not heard anything about him in years. Hope he is well!
