Zebco Spinning Reel Numbers Question

Post by oldsaltnfla »

Does anyone know anything about the Zebco 6000 series spinning reel? I know that the model numbers start at 6000 and then go up to 6010, 6020, etc. Which model number would be considered the ultra light model or the smallest reel of the series? This is the gold or brass colored reel w/ skirted spool.

The 6000 is the smallest (UL) 4.4:1, 6010 - Veri-Light 5.1:1, 6020 - Med Light 4.7:1, 6040 - Heavy Fresh/Light Saltwater 4:1, 6050 - Med/Heavy Saltwater 4:1, 6070 - Heavy Saltwater 4.7:1. They were made in Japan by Sugita in the early '80s. They, along with some of the Omega series open face spinners, morphed into the later blue gray 7000 Sterling Series.
Love those Open Face Spinning Reels! (Especially ABU & ABU/Zebco)
