Handles and nuts for "6 screw" Nobby and other Pflueger reels
ORCA member Jim Wilson in Ontario is looking for the correct crank and nut for a 6 screw Nobby. He tells me that this and other 6 screw reels of this time were only
produced in 1941 and not brought back post war, so he would really like to see a complete original to really know what one is supposed to look like. He says that Pflueger made these 6 screw designs for the Akron, Summit, and Trusty but never continued any when production
resumed after the war. He wonders if these other reels all had different cranks as well. Is this already covered in a book, TRN or elsewhere online?

Dr. Todd's blog has an article written by Bill Sonnett about the 6 screw Pfluegers. There were pictures, but Photobucket booted them. Anyway, here is the link, but maybe one of them can provide the pics here.

Re: Handles and nuts for "6 screw" Nobby and other Pflueger reels
A couple of rescued photos from the Photo bucket debacle. The top photo is Summit and Skilcast. The lower photo is aluminum spooled Akron (1893L) and Nobby. All are 1941 through June 1942 with the extra screw for the new pawl cover plate. As you can see Pflueger use different colored handle grasps on every model even the 1893 Akron had green grasps and the 1893L had the grasps seen here. All the handles are interchangeable so often end up on the wrong reel. Any pre-war Nobby handle and handle nut should work fine. The Nobby was introduced in 1935 All the original articles were expanded and reproduced in my books Deconstructing old Ads Vol's l,ll & lll.
I love to get old reels, work on them until they run as smooth as silk and the take them fishing using pre-1960 plugs, mostly surface fishing for Largemouths after dark.
