That seems to be a Shakespeare font issue of that era. You can see it on the "UNGLE SAM" too.

Any chance that Perfect is for sale? I have been trying to expand my Perfect collection. I have several different sizes and yardage ones.
Collect mostly Ky style reels; Meek, Heddon, Horton, Pflueger Redifor and Worth, etc.
