EVH fly reel eye candy

Post by JeffK »

I was shown this little gem yesterday and it was love at first sight. Alas, there is zero chance of prying it from the owner's hands, at least until he's six feet under. Came from a Maine family. It's under 2" in diameter.

Awesome, Jeff. Give me a call if you need the owner "taken care of".

you are just killing me :bash:

For those that don't know, that's a 355 and likely from around 1890, based on Ted Bingham's book. Ted's book also indicates the catalogued reel only went down to #5, which means that's an uncatalogued size and seriously rare! What a score!

Tell the owner to send it to retired Elder to clean up and make look like new. And maybe he might get it back!

Very nice piece! If it's what you collect that's sure to be among your center pieces if not it'll work as a great trader! My smallest Peerless field find was a unsized and undated 2 1/8" in the original leather case! I hope you can add it to the collection! Tight Lines Nick in NY

Love it.

I've seen JVH reels down to size 8, but that's the smallest EVH I've seen (or heard of).

The foot says six, but I don't know where you are supposed to put that much line on such a little thing.

20-30 yds size G braid is probably perfect with a Leonard Fairy Catskill (No.39)

With a modern plastic 3-wt line, a 60yd GW does the job just fine

but wouldn't that reel look nice here? :fished
