Re: Kentucky reel prices strong
Agree that reel prices are rising, more so for the higher end it seems. My observation is that it follows the general equities market pricing, but it lags. The dow went from 8000 in 2008 to 23,500 currently, and it seems that reel prices are rising, but not as fast certainly.
Other than the economic factors, I attribute the rising prices equally to the fact that I really wanted a BF Meek and Sons #2, and so the prices must be rising to thwart that purchase. This is why you have to buy stuff when you don't want it and it is cheap. This leads to hoarding behavior and reel clubs. Its simple really.

I am doing my part by not offering any of my Kentucky reels for sale right now. That would certainly bring the mark down flat!

You heard it here first, "The Elder Curve". This is the economic principle of inverse reel prices based on what John Elder is selling or buying.

That may be so but I attribute varying reel prices to what Tommy D has or wants/needs. If I have it the price is down, if I want, need or procrastinated buying it because the price seemed too exorbitant the price has gone up. I buy High and never sell anything, that way I won't be disappointed! (And the only Ky. Reel I'll ever own is the Montague that says Louisville)
