Bill- I suppose that many of us are just so used to seeing Meek and Milam handles at 12 o’clock, 3 o’clock and 6 o’clock locations that we don’t realize the significance of a 9 o’clock handle as indicative of a left handed model....is that correct or am I off base here? Thanks,

Correct, except think of it as the handle being at the 4 o'clock position (or 3 o'clock) position, but on the left side plate. Notice the clicker placement - it is behind the handle, just like a right handed reel. I own every one of these that I have seen - they are really rare.

Most of the major makers in the level wind era manufactured left handed reels using the same configuration. Shakespeare even marked some of their models "left hand." I sold Heather Sayler (maybe it was Robin, but Heather wrote the check!) a left handed Pflueger Atlapac 9/0 a couple years ago, also in the same configuration, and also marked "Left Hand."

Bill has always got some interesting reels. His post made me think of a leftie I have. The B.F. Meek & Sons No. 11 is my favorite.

But Bill's reels always bow down to Mr. Gast's reels. That is a jaw-dropping piece Ron!! Wow!

They're all Heather's reels! I'm just a pretty face to help get a better deal!
I would like any unusual pflueger casting reels!

Left handed Hortons. Hmmm! Sounds like a character in a Dr. Seuss book.
