"Governor" on South Bend casting reel

Post by Mike N »

Were these a special order item or an after-market add-on? I love the way it looks almost submarine/nautical with the 6-screws. PS. Is the box right, because it’s got a nice look, also?

They were an aftermarket drag handle produced by Meisselbach. The box is not correct.

Mike,

Do you own the box?

Let me know.

Can't access the Bronson site right now, but I believe the box originally housed a Bronson-made trade model, perhaps for Montgomery Ward?

Dr.Todd— no, this is not mine. I just really liked it. The link to the eBay listing is above.

Mark is correct. Sure-Stop is a Bronson trade reel. Not positive who they made it for. But the box does resemble some Montomery Ward that I have.
