Old raised pillar reel

Post by homer27 »

Hi I am back again with a reel I purchased and I am looking for some details on it. I have searched the internet and could not find much on it. Any help would be great. Thanks Mark

It's a Pflueger trade reel & the foot has been filed rather badly. It was a cheap reel at the time and the front bearing area may be worn making it hard to turn. There was no way to lubricate it.

Could you estimate the age of this reel?

The knob is quite unusual, so keep that reel. It is, indeed a Pflueger, but I am not familiar with the name on the reel. Dr. Todd would know and could tell you the company it was made for. Prior to 1916 most inexpensive reels made by Enterprise were for the trade.
