Unknown spool

Post by Ed Rods »

I had one of my group members ask what reel this spool belongs to. Can anyone help?
Thanks
Ed

I'll probably be of no help, but definitely of no help without a picture!

I found this same request for information on Facebook with additional photos that might help the ID.

It's more than likely for one of the older rear drag reels. It looks like a screw on type. I don't think it's for a Record because most Record spools I have seen have a recessed face with writing. ABU 333 have screw on spools but I've never seen a plain flat faced aluminum one, they're usually plastic with a center metal insert. It may have been a custom made spool for one of the screw on spool rear drags since it has no markings.
Love those Open Face Spinning Reels! (Especially ABU & ABU/Zebco)
