I have 2 Fin-Nor Gar Wood Spin reels - #3 and #4 both from the same previous owner with serial numbers under 1000.
Each reel came with 2 spare spools of slightly different design from the spools that were on the reels.
The spools that were on both reels have what appear to be stainless steel drag plate that sits over the shaft and the spool has a cork drag ring glued to the bottom of the spool that makes contact with the plate thus creating the drag. These have no outgoing click
The spare spools have a click pawl with no cork ring. The cork ring is glued to the plate instead of the spool and the plate is definitely made of a different metal.
Changing from 1 spool type to the other is fairly simple but kind of strange.
I can find very little info on this and know there are a lot of members who are into the vintage salt gear so my question is are these spare spools typical, customized, or some type of upgrade from Fin-Nor?
