Very cool tarpon rod- questions...
Not a reel, but you guys are so smart...
A fellow collector gifted this rod to me. It is really neat. Awesome wraps and artwork. Looking for some info.
First, any thoughts as to vintage of the "Perfection" reel seat? May help me date rod.
Second, I think the writing says:
Grand Prize
Jolly Anglers
Tarpon Catch by:
Ed. Cook
Mfg by
Odum (?) Ayers
Daytona Beach
Any thoughts on Jolly Anglers or Odum (I think) Ayers?
Thanks

Yes, neat! The reel seat is a low cost aftermarket seat that was often used on cane rods. You often see this type of seat on “Turks head” wrapped rods and is tied on by tucking under the wraps. Looks like yours was tied down by those decorative wraps. Neat piece of history!

Thanks John. Yeah, pretty confident nobody was going to land a tarpon on this thing. Especially the reel seat. I’ll post more photos this afternoon.
