UNKNOWN REEL "EXPERT TWENTY" LOOKING FOR INFO

Post by JEFF57 »

Hi

New to the board and was looking for a little info on a reel I recently found. Age, rarity, value, etc. The only markings are EXPERT TWENTY on the side. Patent APP. FOR. MADE IN USA 38 ON THE FOOT. Very clean, well made reel. The handles appear to be bone, bakelite or ivory. Not sure which. Not sure how to post pics, but I can email them. Thanks for any help in advance, Jeff

A photo would help immensely but using the "Advanced Search" feature brings up Coxe.
Love those Open Face Spinning Reels! (Especially ABU & ABU/Zebco)

Sounds like the one made by J.A. Coxe. It's German silver and a nice reel.

That is the reel I'm inquiring about. Any idea on age? As I stated, new to the board and have no clue as to how things work on here.

Under services at the top menu, you can access the Bronson Reel site that is part of ORCA’s reel research. You can find all about the Xpert 20 as well as many many other reels there. Try the bottom of this link for relevant info for your reel:

I can't tell from the pics if the reel has the line guide still on it. The reel is actually made by Bronson and not Coxe. It is German Silver and the 38 refers to the probable year of manufacture; 1938. Most of us collectors consider the reel one of the best reels ever made. It is very undervalued in my opinion bringing only @ $75-125 in excellent condition.
Collect mostly Ky style reels; Meek, Heddon, Horton, Pflueger Redifor and Worth, etc.
