Olympic Seiko reel- should I buy it?

Post by JoeW »

What a great reel- four handles, reel revolves, etc. I found info on it here, but no idea of value. There's one sitting at an antique store right now for $100. Used condition, but not abused. Little sign that says "rare"!. It's an hour and a half one-way drive, I'd pick it up only if it's a good deal. If I get back by Wed, they'll give me a 10% discount- hoo rah! That pays the sales tax!

Help me out- am I traveling today or tomorrow? Thanks. Best--- Joe Walkowski (WNYTC, ORCA)

I THINK I know the reel, and it's too much to pay. I have seen them for around $40 on eBay.

Here’s one version.
As I understand they were/are used for surf fishing.

Cuttyhunk-style linen line and a gut leader.
