Tragic. I appreciate the job Richard did driving our boat.
Amphibious land water vehicles are inherently unsafe and vulnerable to taking on water. I saw a restoration of one, and the toughest thing is keeping the water out of the engine compartment. I will never go on one unless it is totally clear and I know the boat.
