Men of Trent The History of the Nottingham Reel

Post by Stef Duma »

As some of you may be aware I have for many years been working on a few subject with a view to publishing the results.

I am pleased to announce that Men of Trent The History of the Nottingham Winch is now complete and is shipping.

Review of the book by John Stephenson

and a picture of me with the reel

The book is 208 pages with more than 250 full colour images of reels covering the period 1815 to 1875.

It dates the invention of the “center reel/center pin”, it identifies the inventor of the so-called Slater/Spring latch.

It covers the William Bailey vs Joe Woodard matches and for the first time a picture of William Bailey.

“Mind blowingly stunning piece of work” quoted Roger Still.

Many thanks to both of you, Ron, yours will be with the courier in the morning and Steve I hope that you can find something new and interesting.

I have had some feedback from others and it has brought some new reels and information out of the woodwork.

Regards

Stef
