I ran into a friend at the nationals and he thought this reel was possibly made by Pflueger or another company as a trade reel for the H.S.B. & Co. which he thought to be a sporting goods store. Does anyone else have one of these reels or has anyone heard of this company? If it is a trade reel, who made it?
Thanks,

I would guess it's a trade reel made by Montague for Hibbard, Spencer & Bartlett Co.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh. Wow. I could not connect the dots. Yes that makes sense now that I think of it. My friend did also think perhaps Montague made it for someone else. Hibbard Spencer and Bartlett Co. fits the bill. I'll have to see what others think too!
Thank you for the insight.

"Rev-O-Noc" was the last name of an H.S.&B. Co. owner or employee (Conover), spelled backwards, if what's left of my memory is correct.

That is wild.....somewhat like "Norka" with Pflueger except not named after a family member "Akron". That is cool information!

Alan,
You rock! Holy cow. That is so cool you guys found all of this information. I truthfully was lost at the start and could not put the two together. I've heard of Hibbard Spencer and Bartlett Co. with other stuff I've read, but I think it takes two or three to screw in a light bulb (sometimes maybe more!). You guys are great.
Thanks,
