John, I see a few reels on the first photo that you should consider if you would sell them to me. It is so long time since I had a “new” in my collection

Nice reels you all have

Steve,

Those babies are out of my league. They all look like civil war era or earlier. Very nice.

Nice Y&E's. I never seem to come across the small ones?

Here's a later model mod of a Ballan large trout. Had issues with the handle knob so replaced the whole thing with a Shakespeare 1200 handle. Fits like a glove and gives it a classic look. Wanted a single knob counter balanced german silver version but those aren't easy to find so made due with what I had. I've gotten mixed reviews on it but dam I like it.

These pics would have been better if I took the reels all out side and made a nice little display but to much to do today! My cases have mirrors and bright lights so a lot of glare. John Taylor

Nice job folks !

The herd of Microns looks like a squadron of Spitfires ready for take off. I like it !

I've been reminded of how badly I want a Ben Hur.

Ed ...nothing but sweet ! Great pictures of killer stuff !! I was lacking in motivation this morning to set up a lot of props ...would pale in comparison to your shots anyway.

Re: Some odds, ends and Dinoland dinosaur

Post by Richard Lodge »

Great idea to goose people into showing off their displays. I can't match any of these, but this is one reel case I enjoy. Lots of variety (including a rare Wm. Nightingale coin reel, bottom shelf on the right) and the molded plastic dinosaur from Sinclair Dinoland at the 1964 NY Worlds Fair. I remember putting the money in the machine and watching the injection molding go to work. In about 2 minutes I had a nice, new plastic dinosaur. Still have it. Strange, I agree.
Display also includes a Peerless by Nashua, NH, reelmaker Bob Corsetti (my go-to trout reel), a sweet 3" Young Beaudex and a rare Lars Nilsson reel, next to the Peerless. On top of the case are some of my favorite very small brass reels (some Haywoods, a Chubb, a J. Perks Maker (Redditch) reel and others.
Enjoy!
Richard

Tremendous reels John T, the Klein reels are amazing.

Thanks for the kind words Dean, that really means something coming from the best tackle photographer I know.

Just love looking at all the killer reels ... and especially the injection molded wax Stegosaurus. They used to have the injection molding machines at all the Florida Turnpike rest stops back in the 1960s. I had a great collection of the dinosaurs made in those babies. They also had them at the Miami Seaquarium and you could get sharks, sailfish, and whales as well as other sea creatures there. I was at the Seaquarium a few years ago they still had a couple of machines there. I loved the way they smelled when they first came out of the machine when they were still pretty warm.

Stefan,

Displays are great but most of us are in the same boat as you with reels and gear stuffed in nooks and crannies all over the house. Collectively ORCA members most certainly have the worlds finest collection of reels ever assembled. Just dove into a few boxes and clicked a few more pics
