Sad News

Post by m3040c »

My good friend and collaborator in all my books and articles has passed away. Ray Hodges has been fighting a rare form of cancer for two years and he finally lost his battle. He was only 60 years old. He passed away on August 6, 2018 at his home in Brisbane, Australia.

So sad and way too young. Ray was always quick to help with questions asked on the board and was a great collector friend. He will be sorely missed.

My, what sad news! Ray will surely be missed! He was always Johnny-on-the-spot with accurate information. I'll always remember our little banters back and forth when I first joined the forum. :(
Love those Open Face Spinning Reels! (Especially ABU & ABU/Zebco)

I did not know Ray personally but the older I get the more I hurt when my friends hurt.

Godspeed to Ray and his family.

That is very, very sad news. I know you two were particularly close. My heart goes out to Ray and his family and friends. Huge loss for reel collectors everywhere.

Thank you all for your kind words. Ray was never married. He is survived by his brother.

There is a big void for me. I shared the hobby with Ray. We were each others eyes and ears from different sides of the planet. His honesty and deep interest in the same type collectibles I like made for a irreplaceable partnership for me.

He will be very missed...............

Very sad. I sold a few reels to Ray (shipped through you) and had some nice correspondence. He was very generous with sharing his knowledge. Would have liked to have met him. My condolences to you and his family.
