John Betts, the legendary fly fishing angler, writer, rodmaker, and reelmaker, has passed away. He was a unique and wonderful man who made a career out of being true to himself. His book on reelmaking is a revelation. He will be greatly missed.

his wood rodmaking has been a major inspiration in my past efforts to make 'splint and rent" wooden rods. He was a true renaissance man...one of a kind. RIP, John....

Re: Sad News -- John Betts Has Passed Away
I am always saddened to hear the loss of people in our hobby. I feel the world is full of fisherman but there are never enough people that appreciate the history of this great pastime.
Very sorry to hear about the loss of John Betts.
