Old one piece rod and reel. Looking for info.

Post by Dhemmerly »

Looking for some info on this rod and reel. I know it has to be pretty old and I have yet to find someone who knows the manufacturer or if it is homemade. Any info is greatly appreciated.

David:
Thanks for coming over from the ORCA Facebook page. It is a neat looking combo. Does the rod have guides of any sort, especially at the tip top?

Only the tip. Reversible. A very stiff rod. Made out of some sort of hardwood.

Have a few old split bamboo surf casting rods with the same reversible tip top and mirror image guides mounted on opposite sides of the rods. They prevent the rod form taking a "set" where it becomes bowed in one direction by fishing it same side up all the time. Yours was designed to crank right handed, then lefty every other day, unless there is a way to turn your shaft 180 degrees like the ferrules of the bamboo's allow.
