Conroy, Bissett, Malleson rod

Post by 1badf350 »

Hello, my buddy just bought a batch of old rods. None of them have any makers marks except for this one. Looks like maybe 4 pieces with two tips? Are sny of you astute collectors familiar with this maker? Thank you in advance!

Have no idea of value but pretty sure that's a valuable rod. Your friend found a good one in that Conroy marked rod. Lots of Conroy and Malleson reels would look very nice on it.

Got a spare reel stamped "Pflueger" or a Montague Imperial?

The butt section is “swelled”, done by intercalating wood between the bamboo strips. I’m trying To recall others that used this method, but most were made by Montague. The mid and tips look to be either solid wood or rounded bamboo, which was done for a bit after ‘boo started to replace wood. Can’t Tell for sure, but think these are wood. It will restore to a nice display piece. Not high dollar these days but great man cave display!
