Can anyone venture a guess on the maker of this hard rubber, gold plated 100-yard casting reel?
Can Anyone ID The Maker?
Re: Can Anyone ID The Maker?
Mark, The offset plate reminds me of an early O.C. Beautiful reel by the way!

You have a Pflueger saltwater Improved Round Multiplying Reel. You can find it in the ENTERPRIZE MFG catalog no. F-25 for the 1907/08 seasons. It came in size 100 to 400 yds & nickel plated brass or german silver. The reel you have was nickel plated brass & someone has removed the nickel. Most of the ones I have seen are not stamped because ENTERPRIZE sold them to the trade like your reel. I do have some of these reels stamped on the metal or rubber on the front plate with a trade company name and I have some stamped PFLUEGER on the metal plate on the front of the reel.

I'm still inclined to think it might be gold plated, as you can scrape the plating off back down to the nickel silver. I doubt it's plated in brass.

Mark your reel is probably german silver. Have you tried polishing it? I have found reels that had that gold look & when I polished it I found it was german silver. I always start on the bottom of the foot. Good luck!
