Suggestion: It makes far more sense to name the Winter Solstice as New Years Day. It has astronomical significance. Traditional New Years Day is meaningless. In addition, there are other calendars which differ from the date we observe. Also, since Christmas Day being named as December 25 has no meaningful basis and is purely arbitrary, have it on the Winter Solstice as well. Then we won't have to listen to all this drivel about using the term Holidays since it will be just one holiday. Convince the other major religions to go along with this and problem solved!
