How to become a patent examiner

Post by Steve »

1. Learn how to sign your name.
2. Grant a patent for every application that comes across your desk.

(Methinks there's something amiss here.)

That scenario actually works, Steve. I've seen both dogs and cats chase the red dot of a laser pointer. It's actually pretty funny and entertaining watching them trying to bat or grab it.
Love those Open Face Spinning Reels! (Especially ABU & ABU/Zebco)

Mike, I can imagine someone copyrighting a two-legged arabesque. And I can imagine copyrighting the comedy routine that Tommy describes...but a patent? It makes me yearn for the good old days when a 3-member board recommended applications that deserved POTUS's signature.

My grandkids were doing that years ago and I bet they didn't know someone had tried to patent it! Really, someone needs to get a life.

I've been thinking about this thread, and I think you guys have got it all wrong. I would bet that the patent holder is affiliated with a company that manufactures these laser pointers and that this patent was a pretty shrewd business move to eliminate competition for their new cat toy product. Holding the patent would prevent others from marketing similar items without permission.

I did not know I could have been rich. In the early 80's I used to use a flashlight to move around the snow covered yard in Michigan City, Indiana, to exercise my Brittany/Springer mix pal of mine. If I had only known.
