all grown up

Post by Ron Mc »

she wasn't much bigger than this when she caught her first fish on a grasshopper at Shumacher's Crossing
Image

A little bit bigger when she caught her first fish on a fly rod
Image

first fishing comment she ever made was how she loves the smell of a bait shop (to this day)
Image

collecting knives and fishing with the big boys
Image

In no time at all she was out-paddling the grown men
Image

then wrestling her way to college scholarships (this ride's a long way from over)
Image

NHS, perfect score in AP Biology, and fresh from the gym (training 3 times/day with school)
My baby turns 18 today.
Dinner last night with my dad who also turned 88

I've always been good at jewelry, but I was very happy the sapphire bracelet was well-received.
Wasn't long ago her favorite blue was a bone-handled Moore Maker knife.

Congratulations, Ron. My two girls average about 10 years older. It's no small fete today to successfully raise a productive member of society. Well done.

I just loved her and kept us both busy. She gets the credit for all of it, especially her drive.
You can't ask anyone to do the work required for wrestling - it all has to come from inside.
She did inherit my hard head.
Will also say I never turned her into a "tomboy" - from the time she was tiny, she only played with "boys toys" - her older sister loved dolls, but she wanted civil war soldiers (Union) and space-pirate-transformer-thingies - though when they played, they sounded like girls.

for a year, her (7-yr) older sister prayed every night for a baby sister "for her birthday"
We brought the younger home from the hospital on her birthday.

Great stuff Ron! Just had my 7 year old grandson here a couple weeks ago and he caught his first fish with me. Things you will never forget!

that same excitement is why we keep fishing

Best times I've ever had fishing was fishing on TV with Frank Smethurst and Kevin Townsend. It's because they're just like me - they fish with the excitement of kids, and it makes them infectious.
