In Boise, ID I found Reel Geezer!

Post by sdlehr »

We're in Boise, ID visiting our youngest daughter. While here I caught up with Phil (Reel Geezer) and Marilyn White, who entertained us briefly as guests and showed us some of their collections, and there's more than just fishing reels in that house. I got to hold an original John Elder wooden reel! What a work of art! Phil showed me some of his reels and we discussed the addition of some of his Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's catalogs to the ORCA library. He's got a bunch, and we're working on finding out which ones he has that are not currently held in our library so that we may fill the gaps. There are too many for me to fit in my suitcase to take home, and they'll be expensive to ship because there are so many, so if anyone is planning on driving from Idaho to South Florida, we have a small job for you!

I did get one picture of the two of us at this rather impromptu meeting. Because we both are bearded and wear glasses, I find it necessary to say that that's Phil on the left :D

Thanks, Phil and Marilyn, we enjoyed our visit, however brief it was.

Got a spare reel stamped "Pflueger" or a Montague Imperial?

Sid

Did you get a chance to meet Fudge? Fudge is the brains behind Phil.

Yes, Roger, I did meet Fudge. S/He wanted little to do with me, which proves you right, s/he is smarter than both Phil and Marilyn!
