Best song of all-time challenge

Post by Mike N »

You must post a YouTube link to the song.

My nominee is The Main Ingredient’s 1974 classic, “Just Don’t Want to Be Lonely.”

Cuba Gooding, Sr., father of the actor of the same name, was the lead singer, but the horns make this tune a classic. It was featured in the 2011 British spy classic, movie “Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.” Enjoy-

My musical tastes have gotten much darker as I have gotten older. And heavier. This is my favorite song of all time. Hide the children:

I love playing my guitar along with that but this live version is even a little better.

This Vince Gill & the boys classic may be one of, if not the, best songs & videos of all time, though. :jester https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjkLf_X88WM
Love those Open Face Spinning Reels! (Especially ABU & ABU/Zebco)

How about something a little more "high brow"?

I love to get old reels, work on them until they run as smooth as silk and the take them fishing using pre-1960 plugs, mostly surface fishing for Largemouths after dark.

Dean Martin: "Standin' on the Corner Watchin' all the Girls Go By" back when you could record that song. Try it today! Any of Dean's songs were cool!

Dunno about all-time, but this was the best song of the summer of '54. It still brings tears to my eyes, because I went through the same trauma.

ok, counts as appropriate lieder, but easier to accept (loses its jackboot quality) coming from a coloratura

Fischer-Dieskau is considered one of the great singers of the 20th century. Besides, his name is quite apt for the lied. :fished Yes, he was drafted into the Wehrmacht, but he spent most of his time tending horses. I understand he was a stable genius.
