Shot An Eagle On The Course

Post by Jonathan P. Kring »

Golf course less than a mile from home in a Metro area. No eagles on the score card but one in a tree!

Wow, in Indiana! I could never have imagined that happening! Of course, in the ‘60’s, some idiot would have probably shot it to get a close-up view!

Ahh. When I read the headline, I thought you already received your ORCA golf ball order and were bragging about how good they are!

I told Roger in a note I sent, in after thought I might have been better off just making a monetary donation to the club. I guess we will see.??

One or more of them live around our residential area too. Don't usually see them sitting still like that ,but see them flying around.

Nice eagle pics Jonathan! Never have seen one. Considering how much time I have spent on the water that is amazing. Next door neighbor recently said "Did you see the two eagles in the yard across the street this afternoon?" We live a short distance from Cumberland River. Go figure!

As to the Cooper's hawk, please let me borrow her for a few days to get rid of chipmunks. Promise to return her fatter but in good condition!

I love how they have come back. When I was in boy scouts in the late 80s i loved bird watching. It was always a real treat if we saw one. But we had to take a long drive to a wildlife refuge to see them.
Nowadays I routinely see them in and around Washington Dc. I will be sitting in bumber to bumber traffic on the beltway around Washington and look up and theres one just riding a thermal.

and one more that probably eats grubs and beetles, although in this case its 3 foot out my window on peanut butter and black sunflower mixed and pushed in the birch bird feeder holes.

used to see the eagles land within a hundred yds. of us ice fishing and pick up perch and dead minnows that fishermen had tossed out. Bob i saw that hawk pluck a red squirrel from a post one day and take it up in a close tree and just dismantled it. thats when i started keeping the ones i box trapped and started throwing them out dead, sometimes i saw it come down and pick them up. i believe they might have more trouble catching chipmunks.
