REDIFOR Rod+Reel Co. items wanted to buy...
Looking for anything from this Warren, Ohio, company, boxes, catalogs, correspondence, lures, reels, etc... THANKS
Re: REDIFOR Rod+Reel Co. items wanted to buy...
ORCA member Ron Gast has this on his website. I had thought Redifor was the low-cost line of Pflueger reels, now I'm confused.

Ron's writeup should have eliminated any confusion.

Yeah, from confused to downright wrong! Somehow, for at least that moment, Portage and Redifor merged into one in my mind. Probably because I know so little about both!Steve wrote:Ron's writeup should have eliminated any confusion.

Thank you Ron and thank you Sid for pointing it out. I had seen the 1907 Gilmore centrifugal brake patent before but never knew which company used it. Redifor Model D and F. The first centrifugal brake in a fishing reel, no?

Hi John,
This reel is mine: REDIFOR Darling-Flegel Double Tournament Reel

I lent Ron these photos so he could show them on his site.
Wilhem Wiessmann, a Swiss, won the throw (15 grams) at the Casting Club de France in Paris, France in 1912 with this reel (really the one in the photos) with a throw of 62.50 meters .
I also have a picture of Wiessmann throwing this reel in the CCF contest ...
