Cleaned up Peck & Snyder BH Size 3

Today I cleaned up a Peck & Snyder Ball handle size 3. Before and after pics follow. One of the interesting things I discovered is that the foot design on this P&S reel is identical to the foot on my F Vom Hofe & Son ball handle reel, so maybe it was made by a Vom Hofe for P&S in the mid 1870's.

I would tend to agree that it was made by vom Hofe. The knob looks like a vom Hofe to me.

While I agree with Ray that Paul's reel is probably a VH product, I think it's important to ID reels by more than one feature, especially when it comes to grasps. Here's a mix of the grasps on Paul's reel and some others by a mix of makers:
