Yet another Free Spool conversion!
Jon Kring sent me this veteran JVH saltwater reel that had a free spool lever on the surface. A bit of dismantling revealed someone had spent a bit of time figuring out how to make this old timer learn a new trick:
Shortest foot I've ever seen on a reel that's about 450yds...it's looking a bit better than it used to, as least and amazingly, that conversion works pretty good!

Probably to prevent (just a casual observation from the peanut gallery) the counter balance from flying off and knocking some teeth out.someone had spent a bit of time figuring out how to make this old timer learn a new trick:

The wonders of modern technology. On/Off flip (once again from the peanut gallery) could be a bit smoother, though. The pivot may be working in reverse sequence.

The before pictures don't show how badly damaged the back plate was. John is a magician! If I had realized all of the problems it had originally, I probably would have trashed it. Not now!! Thanks Mr. President

You're welcome Sir John. BTW, I'm allergic to chocolate, and, for the record, nice work Prez.

Since your presidential visit this summer, the Monk population has only grown by three! My wifes response was do you think you can find a place to set them? To that I said, no problem. Ever see a Monk holding a reel?
