Discontinued Tarni-Shield Tabs

Post by Brian F. »

Has anyone ever tried 3M's Tarni-Shield tabs for protection against corrosion/oxidation during storage of your reels or tackle? Anyone know why they were discontinued? I know they are activated by exposure to air and see what appear to be old stock for sale with photos showing them out of any kind of packaging. Looking for something to help fight off oxidation and having to clean reels every couple years.

Even if they were discontinued, they're still available at various sites, e.g., Amazon, Gesswein, Esslinger, et al.
According to this expert, the tabs are made of 45-lb. paper containing activated charcoal.

Thanks, Steve. I did see them for sale through a lot of those outlets but noticed a good number of them from China. I was just wondering if there was something wrong with them to be discontinued. Warren P. pointed me in the direction of a couple of 3M people that might know.
