Mitchell 300 Line Guide/Bail Questions
Mitchell 300 Line Guide/Bail Questions
I have three really good working Mitchell 300's I love to fish with. I have a stash of parts and have gone thru all three reels. Two are boomerang handle A/R and one was a later handle A/R model. It had a loud A/R when engaged so I installed an A/R dog from the earlier version and it's much quieter. So I'm not opposed to "upgrading" them. After buying my wife a new Shimano spinning reel I was getting the fever to get a more modern reel. The line management on her's seems very good. So I became interested in changing the line guide from the non-rotating tungsten type my Mitchell's have to a roller type like the Mitchell 300C have. I realize I would have to replace the entire bail assy. Have any of you done this? Would there be any benefit in having a roller over the earlier type? Thanks in advance.
