Incredible! Beautiful restoration, John.
Re: Shakespeare Rubber Standard Reno...
Prrrreettty nice job! Where'd the rubber dust come from and what kind of epoxy did you use?

Just one more reason to buy a copy if you don't already own one.Rubber repairs and polishing/lubing were carried out as detailed in the club's Cleaning and Restoration manual, available at our ebay store (oldreelcollector) or in the ORCA store.

Nice job, John. I am curious about filling the rubber where the missing chunk is adjacent to a screw. Do you leave the screw in place and fill around it, or do you fill the hole and drill/tap a new thread, or some other approach?

All of the above, Paul! In this case, most of the gaps were due to shrinkage and where the part was loose, I was able to put them back together and glue them up. But something had to give when I put the reel back together and two of the cracks at the pillars opened again. I then just let the crack have its way and filled in with epoxy/rubber dust mix, then blended in.

I thought the pre cleaned plate was Bakelite. Great job.
