Good question about the pin! Reel cleaned up pretty good. You can polish out the parts more to even out the appearance but looks fine as is.

Instead of a pin it could be a threaded screw . Clean the hole and get some light on it.

SWAG = oil port/passage?
As I see it that part fits over the shaft on the bridge assy. so there can't be anything going through there.

John Elder, in my previous post, suggested removing the pin or screw to separate the two pieces

Can you show photos of both end views and one from the side opposite the hole? That would help a lot for those of us that don't have a similar reel or assembly.
