Two reel questions, Shakespeare 2410 and Daiwa BG15

Post by LEF »

1. Does anyone have a bail spring for a Shakespeare 2410?

2. My Daiwa BG15 jams about half the time when you crank an open bail. It works fine for manually closing the bail, but sometimes when it is open it jams and the bail will not close.. This is about 1/2 of the time. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

Try this on the BG-15. Back out the bail screw on roller side about 1/4 turn. Blow out with compressed air, oil . Retighten .Then remove spool and blow out and oil the mechanisms . Sometimes the trip wire is bent or not aligned properly. The 15 ,while heavy, is a workhorse of a reel.
After doing this the bail will probably not work at all- in that case I didn't tell you this- ha!
you can tune a piano, but you can't tuna fish.

Well I got it to work by getting a new kick spring off of EBAY. Then with my usual penchant for ruining things (bail springs in particular). I tore up the bail. See my plea for parts. :D
