Bronson Invader 26 Clicker
I just bought a very nice Bronson Invader 26. I wanted this to pair with my Coxe 26.
The clicker on the Bronson reel is missing the pawl. I have been through the Rick's school of peening, but I have always failed. This is a great reel but I would like to have the clicker working.
Anyone have suggestions, or anyone willing to take on the task for me? I pay quite well!

Re: Bronson Invader 26 Clicker
Deke....The Bronson Symbol 4700 (Green) is "very" similar to the Invader 26, just a cheaper version. The clicker assy. in the 4700 is very similar in size and design to that used on the Invader. I have the parts if you want me to send 'em to you, or you can forward the patient. Either way.
There might need to be some trimming done on the 4700 clicker button to trim it down a little (tailplate side). I can send pics if that'd help.

Re: Bronson Invader 26 Clicker
My mistake for sure. I'm sad that I just dove into it and forgot about pic's. But then....that may be a good thing. The rework involved a large vise with an anvil on it, a tack hammer, a slightly ground (blunted) finishing nail, some needle-nose pliers and.....my wife wielding the hammer.
All things considered.....I just wanted ya'll to have a restful night's sleep. i.e. No Nightmares.
On second thought...I probably shouldn't have shared the above description.
Tis what it tis. At least I'm honest....brutally.

Oh and I forgot to mention...the Center-Punch.
For delicate work like that...one needs delicate tools.
I'd bet that there is someone out there right now, thinking that I probably use a pneumatic impact driver to remove Head Plate screws. LOL!!!!

Re: Bronson Invader 26 Clicker
So guys....here's the Million Dollar question. (Review pic #1 above)
How in the world did that "clicker pawl" disappear from under the original peen'd pin?
And that pin was definitely original to the reel. Cracked? Disintegrated? Ideas?
Never even heard of that happening before.

Re: Bronson Invader 26 Clicker
The "patient" arrived in the mail today and it looks great. Thanks to Dr. Peen and his able assistant (Rick and his wife). I now have a Coxe and Bronson Invader 26 set.
Rick also sent me the secret blunted finishing nail (yet to be patented, by the way).
Rick, the clicker works strong and loud just like my un-fished Coxe 26.
Thanks to you, your wife for hitting the nail and not your thumb, and Doc Elder for being the middle man.

Re: Bronson Invader 26 Clicker
WHEW!!!! That was a CLOSE one Deke!!! I figured the work I did, might make the reel turn backwards! Coulda been a disaster if that spool came flyin' off and hit Wayne in the nose!!

Rick...at least the pawl is on the right side of the head-plate, eh Rick! I think only you and I will understand the significance of that!

Ya.....we'll keep that one to ourselves. Even though it might be found documented, in the "Cleaning & Restoration" book. Damned Editors !!! LOL!!
