349 drag washers
I am rebuilding an older Penn 349. I have a set of three drag washers that look like automotive brake pad material. Should I lube then in any way? The ones that came out had what appeared to be a grease coating. What is the proper way to install these “brake pad” drag washers?

Re: 349 drag washers
Wayne, unless they are “grease washers,”,you want to install them dry. The normal washers swell in drag grease and will freeze up the drag.

And that’s probably not good. Thanks, John.
