Gayle and Son #6

Can anyone tell me the year and value of a Gayle and Son #6 Fly Reel? It is in the original box with packing paper and has never had line installed on it.Tried to upload picture but just couldn't get it to go.Can send in e-mail if need to see picture,thanks

These are the lower end reels that came in the round "ice cream" box, correct? Several of these came in off the street at frankfort and some were sold. If bill muth is watching, maybe he will recall what they went for.

My recollection is that in NIB condition, they were bringing between $100 and $200. The value is all in the box and paper.

The Gayle Simplicity #6 was a fairly common reel. Maybe $50 boxed. Just a guess, though. Use the "Search" feature at the top of every page, where there's quite a bit of info regarding the Gayle products, including a website devoted entirely to Gayle reels.
