It was fun, and a lot of work, taking this guy apart and cleaning it. It didn't look like this when I got it.

Nice work! I love seeing these classics fully dissasembled. I am a big game reel repairman, and the quality, and workmenship in these old reels always amazes me. Looks like the anodizing was a little on the thin side, but the reel turned out great.

I revisited this post and was wondering if you have pictures of the rig completed. What type of rod tip and butt did this rig have Having just the reel assembly is rare; but, having the reel, rod tip and original handle could easily put this item into a milestone collectible category

I have the rod tip, but not the butt. The photo above shows how the tip indexes onto the cradle. I'll take a photo of the tip in the next couple of days.
