Thought some of the Winchester collectors might want to see an example of an early version of the No.4350 that doesn't surface very often. This is the first example of this take-apart that I've seen. Phil mentions it briefly in his "Winchester" book, but there's no illustration of it. These used three detent pins to hold the head ring on (and the reel together), instead of the later model with the head ring that screws off. These were a very awkward design to use. It's no wonder they redesigned it early on. This one hadn't been taken apart in ages, likely because the owner couldn't figure out how to do it.

Re: 1st Version Winchester No.4350
Cool reel Mark. I have one just like it, except for the grasp color.
I got mine on the bay from a seller who didn't promote it very well, so it didn't attract much attention.
The only reason I recognized its rarity is because of Phil's book.
