Luxor pickup today

Post by spadej1 »

I went to a small sportsmans flea market today and picked up a few reels. Several Luxor’s including a model A and B and this Special. The vendor was someone I see frequently at local shows but the first time I purchased something from him. Met a few nice fishing lure design/engineers too.

That's a nice find, especially with the box and papers.
Love those Open Face Spinning Reels! (Especially ABU & ABU/Zebco)

Thanks Tom. The paperwork is actually interesting. It is just a sheet that explains how their new boxes are smaller for more efficiency and it gives some details on how to put the reel back in.

Spade,

Very nice buys. Luxor reels just bleed quality and last forever. I have several just like the one you pictured and enjoy and take them for a spin now and then.

Thanks guys. I don’t usually collect boxes as they add to the cost and take up space but I’ve been looking for some Luxor reels and this was a good deal from someone local that I’ve been talking to. Great add to the collection, but it also enhances my Airex stuff too!

Finding a Luxor in the box is a rare opportunity. I agree that boxes are space consumers but in the case of a Luxor, space must be made. I only have one, had no intentions of buying it but could not pass it up.

The Luxor is a tank!

Nice acquisition, Mike!
I was one of those moments when someone asks you if you would like to buy something they want to get rid of. Offer you a really fair price, you look at it and just know that if you do not buy this thing you really have no need for, next week you will be slapping your forehead, telling yourself that you will never find another one like that and why did you not buy it when you had the chance?
I have had many Luxor #3's and have a Crack 300 to fish with if I choose; but, I never had the opportunity to get a NOS one in the box with the papers. So now I own it, love it and may be buried with it. :D

If the price is even close to right, you kind of have to go for it. Nice pick up, those saltwaters are huge!

They are huge and also heavy; but, except for the bail, are basically indestructible. I had to go for it. The price was lower than I would pay for one without a box. An offer I could not refuse. Wish I could do that all the time. Then I could retire...<:O)
