deja vu all over again

Post by john elder »

I got commissioned to make another 14/0 Penn reel similar to the one that made the Reel News a couple years' back and this is the result...went ahead and tried carving out the lettering and pic on the tail plate this time and i think it came out pretty good.

Jeez-Louise, John!

By the way, I see you are going down the "dual-fruit marketing strategy" road, ala-our favorite ebay seller.

Fantastic workmanship and attention to detail. Just out of curiosity, how long did it take to make? usa canadian

Thanks, guyz...it's tough to say, Tony...time flies when you're having fun...but not a weekend project! I'm sure if I had kept a clock, it would be 60 hours or so...not as long as the first time...learned some from earlier mistakes . :D

John,
Your skills as a wood butcher amazes me. With my skills, I couldn't start with a twelve foot two by four and end up with a satifactory toothpick. Not only are these reels a thing of beauty, they are a classic piece of art.
Thanks man, really enjoyed a look. Just hope to see one in the flesh some day.

Thanks Phil. I was hoping you would pack your's up and bring it. Just didn't want to burden you with the task if you hadn't intended to do it already.

John--You must have had some art training, the ability to emulate
the typography shows a hidden talent IMO
